Mike Cox, Webinar Chair

Operations Director, Association of Employment and Learning Providers  

After 13 years in retail purchasing and supply, Mike became an assessor for apprenticeships with TBG Learning in 1999. He soon moved onto various development roles with learndirect, RNID and then LSN where he headed up the bidding and development team, helping design support programmes and research in areas including Train to Gain, Citizenship, Diplomas, Key Skills, Functional Skills and Foundation Learning. He joined AELP in February 2013.

Mike is married with 2 children and lives in rural Kent.








Mark Rayner

Degree Apprenticeships Development Manager, Directorate of Education and Employer Partnerships, Sheffield Hallam University

Mark’s current role is to support the development of degree apprenticeship provision at Sheffield Hallam University. This includes working with a wide range of partners, such as the local LEP and FE colleges, to help ensure future provision meets projected employer job growth and skills demand within the region, and enabling the development of progression pathways for apprenticeships from levels 2-7 within key sectors. Mark was previously a Senior Manager at the UK Commission for Employment and Skills managing the UK National Occupational Standards programme and a portfolio of Employer Leadership Pilot projects. Prior to that Mark has worked in both public and private training organisations, including the Sector Skills Development Agency, Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, Community Training Services and Sheffield Training and Enterprise Council.





 
 

Breda Leyne

Senior Associate, The Strategic Development Network
            
Following a career background in the public sector Breda has been engaged in FE and Skills since 2001. She has worked with several sector skills councils, and public sector bodies promoting workforce development through standards and qualifications. She is currently supporting the development and implementation of Apprenticeship Standards. She has worked with employer developer groups and has recently been supporting the education and training sector prepare for the transition to delivery under the Future Apprenticeships Programme.
